Born: Apr 12, 1916
Place of Enlistment: Grass Range, Montana
Service Number: AF6549150
Status: MIA (Presumed KIA Dec 31, 1953)
Bio: I don’t know much about his early career. I do know that he was assigned to the 13th Bombardment Squadron (Grim Reapers), 3rd Bomb Group. He remained attached to that unit until his plane (44-34200) went missing during an interdiction mission on Jan 6, 1952. Ross and his entire flight crew were never seen again. They are presumed shot down by flak on the approach to the target. The 13th Bomb Squadron Association page, maintained by vets who flew the missions, say that this plane was lost on a night mission on Jan 7th, 1952. However, other sources list the loss as taking place on a day mission on Jan 6th, so there is some minor discrepancy.
