Through various contacts with the Laotian government, a joint U.S.-Laotian recovery team was able to retrieve the remains of Maj. Burke in February 2005. He was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
He is listed on the Vietnam Wall, Panel 25E, Line 30.
Personal Life
John Creighton Gillespie Kerr was born 16 Mar 1932.
He was English by birth, was educated in the UK at Sutton Surry School, Fetes College in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the RAF (Royal Air Force) College Cranwell. His father, at the time of his release from the RAF, was the District Medical Officer in South Eleuthera, Bahamas and it was from there that Major Kerr entered the United States and subsequently joined the USAF. He had served during the Korean War and in Vietnam.
