Missions

22 Aug 67 - Maj John Creighton Gillespie Kerr, (pilot) and Capt Burke H. Morgan, (navigator) were reported missing in action while on a single aircraft operational mission.

Radar and radio contact was lost with the members in their A-26 aircraft and the members were declared missing in action at the time of estimated fuel exhaustion. Last radio contact with them was routine and there was no indication of trouble.

Disposition

  • KIA 22 Aug 1967

Through various contacts with the Laotian government, a joint U.S.-Laotian recovery team was able to retrieve the remains of Maj. Morgan in February 2005. He was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

He is listed on the Vietnam Wall, Panel 25E, Line 31.
