In 1971 the State of Georgia Forestry Commission purchased 3 A-26A Invaders from the storage yard at Davis-Monthan AFB. Their intent was to convert these planes over to become fire bombers for use in fighting forest fires. However, none of the planes were converted. They sat in open storage at Macon, GA until 29 May 1977 when Air Spray, Ltd of Edmonton, Canada purchased all three aircraft. However, 64-17679 was damaged during a test-flight landing at Macon, GA, which forced the plane to be stored in Georgia. The other two planes, 640 and 676, both went to Edmonton, Canada.
