The production of the Invader began first at the Long Beach plant. The solid-nosed B was actually the first off the production line (41-39100). The first of five A-26B-1-DL Invaders appeared in September of 1943. As compared with the prototype, the A-26B had an increased bomb load (6000 pounds) and higher internal fuel capacity of 1600 US gallons. The powerplants were housed in slightly revised nacelles and drove three-bladed propellers without spinners. The engines were a pair of 2000 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800-27 radials.

These planes were painted in typical WW2 bomber camouflage -solid OD Green with a neutral grey underbelly.

This category shows all of the A-26B-1 model planes that were produced at Douglas Long Beach (DL).

According to the Douglas Production List, the A-26B-1 was built: "The same as the A-26B-1-DO, except at the Long Beach plant".
From the same production notes we know that the A-26B-1-DO was never actually built. The notes say:
"(not built) similar to the (X)A-26, except for 75mm cannon in the nose; similar to the XA-26B except bombing installation provided and range finder not provided"
