The Cleburnes of Cliburn Hall ruled the town of Cliburn for 9 Generations as Cleburnes. There are two different reported ancestral origins of the Cleburne Family. One purported origin is that the family is descended from Adam Le Franceys, and the other purported origin is that the family is descended from Bardolf, Lord of Ravensworth.
